The task of reconciling the 'Picture This!' database and file system is nearly complete! It may take a while longer to get the entire photo library and the accompanying captions humming.
Volume Album Event Rivers Winooski River April Falls 2012
Out for a super sunny late-day paddle...
We parked and put-in on the Winooski side, where free parking on the street is available (2 hour limit).
With gawkers (on the River Walk)
Below the first drop
Skirting the second small ledge drop
Hugging river left at the falls, you have to drive hard to the right to avoid running aground right here. I only made that mistake once (in 3 runs).
Whoo Hoo
Wondering how long before someone eyes this old dam for rebuilding (and hydro power generation). It wouldn't be popular w/ motorists who cross the Rt. 7 bridge daily and enjoy the upstream view.
Contemplating a run "down the middle". Chris Weed emerged from his cubicle at the Chace Mill to assure Paul that you can simply follow the lead-in wave train at this level (1500 CFS) and punch the recirc below the entry ledge.
Lining it up, maybe a bit more left than Chris had intended.
Carnivorous Paul, goes after some meat
Sweet and Dandy
What we DIDN'T run
Some bony lines with shallow landings probably exist here, between the horseshoe and the falls. None of us wanting to find out just how bony...or shallow...today.
A shallow line that avoids the big hole at the horseshoe was attempted and cleaned, with Dan standing by with a throwbag and the camera.
